About the Alumni Association
Started in 1930, the stated purpose of the Wright City High School Alumni association "shall be to promote the interest and welfare of the Wright City High School and to renew and promote associations and friendships enjoyed as students of this institution."
Now over 90 years after the first three year certificate graduates of 1930 decided to get together for a reunion, the Alumni Association continues to host a celebration for all alumni the second Saturday in June of each year. Over time, the Alumni Association celebration has become a Wright City tradition, bringing graduates back to the community, keeping those honored memories of WCHS history alive and strong. The Board of Directors and elected officers try to honor groups important to WCHS - the FFA, 1966 men's State Basketball champions, school Kings & Queens and most recently, the women's 1994 & 1995 State Softball team.
Only two times in the Alumni Association's history has the yearly dinner/dance been canceled. During World War II, from 1942 through 1945, the celebration was canceled because the elected officers were not in Wright City to organize the event. In 1946, a group of graduates came together to continue the Alumni tradition. The second time event was cancelled, unfortunately, in 2020 the Alumni Board of Directors first postponed and then had to cancel the event due to the pandemic, COVID-19.
A wholly volunteer Board of Directors welcomes all help offered when planning and executing the Alumni celebration from year to year and is grateful for all donations made by WCHS alumni. It is through volunteers and contributions that the tradition of celebrating Wright City High School continues!
